Even though the weather was lets say, unforgiving. The EHD crew still turned out in force for a Valentines afternoon tea at Hayling islands Drift Bar. With petals on the table and hearts everywhere an afternoon of love was in order. Over two sittings we saw nearly 50 dogs accompanied by their owners share sweet treats and a cake stand of delights to celebrate a day of love, which was raising money for its latest dog charity, Angels Small Paws.
‘Valentine’s Day is a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. It’s nice to make it a special occasion where people can sit down with their dachshunds in a restaurant environment’
What a better day than to spend it with your pooch sharing Puppachinos and Pupcakes made by Jemma O'Grady. We also had a mini raffle to help us raise as much money as possible, as well as stall holders in attendance to provide dachshund goodies for purchase. As well as the lovely Sam from Top Dog Photography taking gorgeous valentines themed photos of the dashing dachshunds on the day.
Havant raw dog food business, Hunters Choice, were also with us to support the event. Kirsty and Jed Vale, who have been running the growing business for a year, said: ‘It’s great to meet so many people you have so much in common with.'
This was the first of this kind of event but it was great fun and worked really well. Dogs were allowed off lead once everyone was in and all the PAWrents were able to help themselves to tea and coffee at the bar whilst their Afternoon Tea was served to their tables. There was also a fancy dress competition which always makes everyone smile and in each sitting a High Tea Queen and Top Hat King was crowned!
All in all we had a great time and finial count is £330 raised for Angels Small Paws, a great amount for a small event like this.
